South Haven girls knock off Argonia; Wellington teams split

South Haven went into Argonia and beat the Red Raiders 50-48. In other action, the Wellington varsity girls were victorious over El Dorado the boys not so much… Argonia vs. South HavenArgonia has been the dominate SCBL team for six years running. But Tuesday night that changed when the South Haven Cardinal girls team went into Argonia and beat them 50-48.South Haven had beaten Argonia in the SCBL Tournament championship a couple of weeks ago. However, Argonia was short-handed without its leading scorer. This time Argonia was a full strength and this was for the regular season championship.It was a nail biter.South Haven jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but Argonia went on an 11-0 run before the end of the first quarter.At one point in the second quarter, Argonia had a 10-point lead, but South Haven cut the lead to 4 by the half.In the second half, both teams battled back and forth – neither team leading by more than 5.Towards the end of the game, South Haven’s Ashton Barlow and Baylee Jacobs exchanged buckets with Argonia’s Jaci Peetoom and Cori Drouhard.In the end, South Haven’s Launa White hits a basket with 11 seconds remaining in the game to give South Haven a 50-48 lead.Barlow steals the inbounds pass to seal victory for South Haven.Peetoom led all scorers with 19 points for Argonia.South Haven: 07 16 14 13—50Argonia: 14 13 11 10—48 Scoring: South Haven: Jacobs 15, Barlow 13, Harris 9, White 8, K.
