Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, May 31, 2019

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Some bad news in our forecast this morning, as we are having to put in moisture for the middle of next week. This effectively means mother nature is taking any hint of a planting window and is slamming it shut while erecting iron bars in front of it. More on that in a bit. But we still have to get through moisture before we even get to any talk of changing a dry forecast. Today we should see partly to mostly sunny skies over the northern half of the state, but we have scattered showers around all day long from I-70 southward. These showers can produce .25″-1″ rain totals, but we need to stress that the 1″ values will be limited to a few areas in the far southern tip of the state, and will have to come with potential for a few thunderstorms. Most of southern Ohio will end up on the lower to middle part of the scale. Tomorrow features sun followed by increasing clouds , and rain will advance in from the north in late morning. By midday we have showers from US 30 northward, and then showers and thunderstorms spread south across the rest of the state through the overnight and Sunday morning. . Rain totals will be from .25”-.75” with coverage at 90% of the state. But, we should turn out partly sunny by Sunday afternoon. No change in the start of next week with two dry for Monday and Tuesday. It will be cooler for those days behind the weekend system, but we do see full sunshine and a good breeze, so dry down will have excellent potential. We also are going to look for a mostly dry Wednesday as well, but clouds will be on the increase Wednesday afternoon. The change in our official forecast comes for Wednesday nigh through Thursday, where we have to insert showers across most of the state. We are expecting .25”-.75” rain totals over 100% of the state. The moisture is just to great and the system to strong coming out of the central plains for us to be able to miss it. From there, clouds give way to sun on Thursday. We do project dry weather for all of Friday, Saturday and next Sunday. The map at right shows 10 day rain potential across OH. We also are having to work in some changes to the extended period as well, and they are not helpful. Scattered showers are likely in the area for Monday, with 70% coverage. Then for Tuesday the 11th we take a bit of a break, before showers return for Wednesday and Thursday with 60% and 90% coverage. Finally, a couple of drier days emerge for the end of the 16 day window Friday and Saturday, the 13th and 14th. We are back to a pattern than does not have any large window of opportunity for significant field work.last_img read more

BJP MLA held for Ahmednagar murders

first_imgPune: The Ahmednagar police on Monday arrested Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Shivaji Kardile in connection with the murders of Shiv Sena leaders Sanjay Kotkar and Vasant Thube on Saturday. However, Mr. Kardile, MLA from Ahmednagar’s Rahuri constituency, denied his arrest and said he “voluntarily gave himself up” at the Bhingar police station this morning.A press note issued by the Ahmednagar police on Sunday had declared that the BJP MLA, along with 53 others connected to the crime and vandalism at the Ahmednagar Superintendent of Police’s office, was absconding. On Sunday, the police booked Mr. Kardile, along with NCP MLC Arun Jagtap (Sangram Jagtap’s father) and 30 others for allegedly hatching a conspiracy and executing the killings. ‘Allegations false’The BJP MLA refuted all allegations against him. “The police are investigating the crime and the culprits will be brought to justice. I have no relation with it. Since Saturday, the opposition [read Shiv Sena] is besmirching some members of my family and me by linking our names with the murders. Seeing this, I voluntary decided to appear before the police and cooperate with the probe,” Mr. Kardile told a local television channel. The second high-profile arrest in the case comes a day after Mr. Kardile’s son-in-law, National Congress Party (NCP) legislator Sangram Jagtap, and four others were taken into police custody in connection with the murders.Mr. Jagtap was taken into police custody in the wee hours of Sunday. Congress candidate Vishal Kotkar, who won the Kedgaon bypoll to the Ahmednagar civic body; his father Balasaheb Kotkar; Sandeep Gunjal and Bhanudas Kotkar were also booked for their alleged roles in the double murder.Soon after Mr. Jagtap was arrested, Mr. Kardile, along with a mob of over 200 persons allegedly vandalised the office of the Superintendent of Police, Ahmednagar. However, Mr. Kardile denied allegations, stating that events had been “misinterpreted”. “After Sangram [Jagtap] was arrested, a mob had gathered at the SP’s office. I was returning from a function and decided to stop en route and pacify the mob. I urged the crowd to show restraint,” he said, adding he was ready to face any inquiry. The aftermath of the Kedgaon bypoll coupled with years of political rivalry are said to be the broad reasons for the murders of the two Sena leaders, who were first shot at and then attacked with sharp weapons. The murders have led to the suspension of police inspector Abhay Parmar of Ahmednagar’s Kotwali police station Minister of State for Home, Deepak Kesarkar. He has been replaced by PI Ramesh Ratnaparkhi.Mr. Parmar’s suspension was prompted by Shiv Sena’s allegations about the allegedly controversial role of the police authorities in Kedgaon in the crime. All three families — the Kardiles, the Jagtaps and the Kotkars — are related to each other by marriage and virtually dominate Ahmednagar politics, especially at the taluka and civic body levels. Both Mr. Kardile and Congress leader Bhanudas Kotkar have a history of crime, their names figuring prominently in the murder of lottery-ticket businessman Ashok Lande in 2008. The incident has snowballed into a political slug-fest, with the Sena and the NCP trading charges. On Sunday, senior Shiv Sena leader and Minister Ramdas Kadam, alleged that the murders were “a premeditated conspiracy by the BJP, Congress and NCP”. Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar, retaliated by accusing the Sena of attempting to tarnish his party’s reputation by fabricating charges.last_img read more
