While StarCraft fans expressed no end of frustration at the initial announcement that StarCraft 2 was going to be broken up into three separate titles, the game has thrived all the same and still managed to deliver compelling story modes in the two-thirds that have already released. Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm are about to be met by the final chapter of this tale, Legacy of the Void.If you played through to the end of Wings of Liberty, it wasn’t hard to see where the StarCraft 2 story was headed. We’ve seen the rise and fall of empires, the return and re-return of Kerrigan, and as players we’ve explored tons of new battle scenarios with dozens of new unit types and abilities. Legacy of the Void will bring all of these elements together and walk players through the noble-yet-violent Protoss storyline. As trailers go, Blizzard delivered exactly what the fans wanted to see. It’s clear the story is headed to a thrilling conclusion, and all of the fan favorites are going to be there as it all goes down. Between the multi-colored energy blades on the Protoss and the improbable alliance with the Zerg (through Kerrigan’s leadership), Blizzard is hoping the hype will justify asking another $50 to finish out the story. Well, probably $70 if you want all of the limited edition goodies. Chances are, if you played through this far you won’t mind the extra cash. En Taro Tassadar!
